Is recreation based home care right for me and my family?
Has your loved one become socially isolated?  Are they having a hard time adjusting to a new environment, such as a long term care home?  Are they having a hard time adapting to some of the challenges that may occur as we age?  Do they have difficult behaviours as a result of a brain injury or dementia and require more one to one care than they are currently receiving? Do you do house work?
Our approach is unique in that we team together with our client to help empower them and enable them to accomplish tasks that may be overwhelming or challenging on their own.  Together we prepare meals, grocery shop, organize closets, clean out the fridge and put laundry away.  Our clients feel accomplished and empowered when we are finished and we are always happy to work with our clients to break down the barriers that make these every day tasks more difficult.
How will you communicate with our family?
We are happy to stay in constant contact with family via written Journals, emails, text messages and a software system that easily allows families to view our progress notes from the convenience of their mobile device. Often times, you will receive a photo of your loved one during our time together via email or text message.  We are very proud of our ability to partner and communicate with the entire health care team to ensure our care is complementing their overall health goals.
Can you work with someone who lives in a Long Term Care home?

Yes, we can.

Do you charge for mileage if you take my loved one out into the community?

No, we don’t.

Do you have an hourly minimum?
No, we don’t.  We work together to come up with a schedule that works for all involved.
What is the educational background of your caregivers?

Our team of recreation therapists have either completed a degree, diploma or certificate in recreation therapy or have significant work history in the field.

How long have you been in business?

Brooke’s Home Care (formally, Vitality Health Services) has been in business since 2007.
